Cheap resistance unit : Minoura B60R Tiredrive Trainer

I own the M70 which has the exact same magnetic resistence unit and it is a piece of junk. The white/grey housing is incredibly cheap plastic and all the screw wells in it eventually cracked and broke, since resistence naturally produces a lot of heat which stresses the unit. The housing appears to hold the magnetic resistence plates in place so without a functional housing the trainer starts to grind and basically fails to work. This problem first appeared about 1 year in to owning the M70 (usage about 2x / week in the winter only) and worsened from there (it's now 4 years old and useless). After successive attempts to patch it together with duct tape, super glue, etc, it is done and finally going back to REI. Thankfully they have a satisfaction guarantee on everything they sell and hopefully they'll honor it here (is it any surprise they don't carry Minoura trainers any more??). It worked fine for awhile but I'd just expect something like this to last longer. I would avoid any trainer with a cheap resistence unit given the stress placed on it.
